Match Report V Muskerry

Muskerry 5, Sunday’s Well 27.

The ‘Well maintained their winning streak in a exciting game of two contrasting halves in Ballyanly. The first half was very open with the ‘Well  showcasing plenty of their attacking ability. The Leagues top scorer; Logan Henry added further to his points tally with a total of 12 points from the boot. Amazingly all the points came in the first half, with dogged spirited defence by both teams coming out in top after the break.

The ‘Well scored three tries – that put them into a comfortable position at the break; but were unable to get over for a fourth despite some close calls, with Muskerry doing all in their power to deny giving away a try bonus point.

Those scores came through some powerful bursts by Adam Brown and Robert O’Keefee while the excellent running of Gary Downey also saw him go over.

The ‘Well are in a strong position with nine points from two games and setting the early running in a very competitive league. A few of the likely contenders though have seen their games called off this weekend. Thomond’s trip to Charleville, the ‘Well’s next opponents: Bandon’s planned home game with Clanwilliam and the clash of Newcastle West and Richmond are among those fixtures that have fallen foul of the recent inclement weather.
