Sean Loftus Elected Munster Branch President

The Annual General Meeting of the Munster Branch was held on Wednesday night in Sunday’s Well RFC before a large audience.

The outgoing President Brendan Foley thanked everyone for their help and support over the season and proposed Sean Loftus, Sunday’s Well RFC, as the new President of the Munster Branch for season 2025/26.

Speaking about the honour of becoming Munster Branch President Sean said:

“I was thrilled from a personal point of view and a family point of view. It was a great honour to be asked to do it and the lead into it has just been incredible for me.”

A proud Sundays Well man Loftus told us how his journey with the club began nearly 50 years ago.

“My journey started in Sunday’s Well when I was about 8 years of age. From there I worked my way right up the ranks to senior. I won a Senior Cup, a Charity Cup, and a Senior League in my playing days and then I went on and joined the coaching ranks and coached numerous teams at age-grade level.”

“I then got involved in the committees within the club and was eventually made president of the club on two occasions. From there I became a Munster Branch Delegate which has then led me to now becoming Branch President.”

Sean has been lucky enough to spend this past year applying his trade with Brendan Foley at the helm. Speaking about how his past experience, along with the guidance from Foley, has prepared him for this new role he said:

“It has given me great grounding for it because I understand what it takes to be the president and the role that is ahead of me. I’ve had a fantastic apprenticeship under Brendan Foley this past year so I am well prepared for it and being president of my own club did give me a good standing for it.”

With a busy year ahead of him we asked the incoming President about what he was most looking forward to this season.

“I’m really looking forward to embracing the season as a whole this year from start to finish and enjoying every moment of it”

We wish Sean the very best of luck for the season ahead.
