Sunday’s Well 26 Kanturk 28

Sunday’s Well didn’t quite get the result they wanted in a fiercely contested derby against Kanturk. They did look as they would finish the game without anything as they trailed at 28-19 going into injury time – but relentless pressure late on saw them snatch two precious points from the game. .

Young out-half Ciaran McGuire had another bright game accompanied by Fabien Loughrey. The young Glen man showed plenty of skill and guile; finishing the game with a total of 11 points, kicking three conversions and racing in for a crucial try as well.

Emeka Asiegbu and Jamie O’Leary also combined their mix of power and pace to get on the score-sheet; after a number of enterprising plays. Meanwhile; up front it was a tough battle. The one change to last week’s starting XV saw Dylan Cooper come into the team and the hooker managed to forage his way over for one of the tries.

Kanturk made a bright start and a nice early combination between Ronan O’Brien and Bryan O’Sullivan saw the latter go over the line. Eoin Goggin converted. The ‘Well fought hard and managed to salvage the lead before half-time at 12-7

Kanturk made a rampant start to the second-half with Dylan Moynihan managing to power his way over the line. While the ‘Well added to their tally; the North Cork side put a firm grasp on the game. Conor Sullivan and Bryan O’Sullivan both managed to make their way over the line to open a 28-19 lead.
