Sadly, Sunday’s Well lost one of its former players and club member last week with the passing of Owen Wills

Owen was a tough tackling centre with lightning speed who played with the club in the late 60’s and 70’s. When he retired he helped form Shandon RFC and, coincidentally, played in their first match ever against Sunday’s Well.

An electrician by trade, Owen was keen trade union member and it was no surprise when he became president and CEO of the Technical Engineering and Electrical Union. Owen thrived in this position and was greatly respected throughout the country and further afield for his tremendous work for his members.

The president and members of Sunday’s Well RFC extend our sincere condolences to the Wills family, particularly his wife Kathleen, seven children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.

Ann Scanlan

Sadly, over the weekend Sunday’s Well also heard of the Passing of Ann Scanlan, wife of Past President Maurice.    Ann’s Daughter Veronica was also Chairperson of our underage section.

The president and members of Sunday’s Well RFC extend our sincere condolences to the Scanlan family, particularly Ann’s children, Veronica Barbara, Maeve Claire and Ruth and there extended families.
